What’s New in 2020?
This year, WSSUP brings new adventure opportunities to the Western Slope. We introduce our Wild Western Slope farm tour, where you get up close and personal with the people, places and animals that make our valley so unique. After a 20 year hiatus, we help bring back the one and only build your own Crazy Raft Race. We will also host a geologic history tour series with Dr. Dave Noe, where we explore the geology and archaeology of three unique canyon systems by raft. June brings an exclusive whitewater adventure into the heart of Yellow Billed Cuckoo territory with national expert, Dr. Murrelet Halterman. This tour is your best opportunity to learn about, and possibly see one of the most endangered birds in Colorado. Dates are limited. Click the links to learn more.
January Follies
Nothing says January in Delta County like 32 degree water flowing down the Gunnison River. At 10:00 am new years day, a small group of Western Slope SUP family and friends gathered on the banks of the Gunnison near Delta, Colorado. Bundled in ski gear, the crew was ready to embark on our second annual new year's day float. The 2 hour raft trip included icebergs, eagles and even some exciting whitewater! To our surprise, we were not the only outdoor enthusiasts on the water that morning. Along the way we passed two duck hunters, and their faithful dog who swam out to greet us. Upon landing at the Confluence Park boat ramp in Delta, we met many locals out enjoying the first frosty morning of the year.
